Nearly a century after initially being designed, the iconic Louis Vuitton ‘Speedy’ bag has embraced a modern twist. Launching ‘Speedy 40 VIA’ ahead of the bag’s revamped release due to hit the stores in January 2024, the renowned fashion item now comes with a digital counterpart which happens to be an NFT.

Holders who acquired LV’s Treasure Trunk NFTs for $43,780 last month will have exclusive access to a digital and tangible Speedy bag. One reason behind the initial hefty price tag includes granting access to upcoming LV collections. So, this is where Pharrell Williams’ VIA version comes into play.

A Must-Have for the Rich and Famous

Pharrell Williams has had a notable long-term alliance with Louis Vuitton, with renowned collaborations in 2004 and 2008 and, now, holding the Men’s Creative Director title. The Doodles’ Chief Brand Officer and record producer put his unique spin on the revamped Speedy items, thus, it’s no wonder why he recently drew attention to a vibrant yellow version of the bag worth $1 million:

The initial Speedy bag, first called ‘Express’, was designed following the sudden travel-centric lifestyle in the early 1900s. Following the trend, Audrey Hepburn requested a smaller version of the fashion item in the 1960s, spurring the creation of Speedy 25. Since then, many celebrities have modelled the bag, including Rihanna, Paris Hilton and Dua Lipa. It’s a must-have for the rich and famous.

Consequently, this transformation of the Louis Vuitton Speedy bag not only presents fashion trends but blends classic designs with the digital future, illustrating LV’s timeless charm and pioneering spirit.
